Research
My research is focused at the intersection of political/legal, feminist, and medical anthropology. I am interested in the ways that human beings respond to violence, specifically the violence of impunity and violence that is gender-based.
I think about these responses in two ways:
1. Examining how communities create and carry-out political, legal, and social movements against violence and towards justice. I focus on the ways that people conceive of "justice" and "impunity" and how they translate these notions into action.
2. Analyzing how prolonged exposure to violence--specifically violence that is unresolved through legal means--can affect people's bodies and health more broadly. Here, I am specifically interested in analyzing how prolonged exposure to the violence of impunity can itself be a determinant of health and wellbeing.
